Meet Christi Burton (she/her/hers), LICSW

Hi! My name is Christi Burton and l look forward to getting to know you! My primary focus is working with children and teens experiencing symptoms from anxiety disorders.  I strive to create a safe and affirming space where people can exist authentically, without judgment. I am a Neurodivergent-affirming, LGBTQ-positive, compassionate, and client centered clinician. That means that I accept my clients for who they are and support them to work toward their goals of living a fuller and richer lives. I warmly welcome clients that are part of the Deaf community. I am fluent in ASL and worked as a certified ASL interpreter before becoming a clinical social worker.

As a clinician, my goal is to help children and teens find joy and self acceptance. There is no one “Right way” to be human. Recognizing our strengths as well as areas that are getting in the way is foundational to my practice.  I do this by working with clients to discover their values and strengths, while introducing coping skills to help them improve their overall well-being. I borrow from many different theory bases, including: Play Therapy techniques, Creative Arts Therapies, ERP (Exposure Response Prevention), ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

I love working with youth and have a special interest in anxiety disorders. Finding a therapist who treats OCD in children can be difficult. OCD is sadly misunderstood by society, which can leave clients and their families feeling isolated. I provide a safe and fun space for children and teens to learn skills, stand up to their fears, and find joy. Incorporating parents into the healing process is an important part of my work, especially when doing ERP.
